Central America

Much like Dan's track, this one has been hanging around with me for years. I came up with the verse chords during heavy tokes of Suburban Light by Clientèle and their somber 7th chords (That album is a dream. I couldn't really get into anything else by them, but oh boy that album was a doozy. Listening to it takes me back to the pot filled days of printing t-shirts and hanging out by myself alot, most driving around. A bowl and a butt on the way to work, at lunch and on the way home everyday. I actually had the chance to see them at Maxwells. This was pre-smoking ban, I brought a little one hitter in with me. Being the tall fella that I am, I would duck down in a half-question mark position when it was time to indulge. Normally this would have been no problem, but there was a female dwarf in the audience that night. Every time I did my thing, I was eye level with her, her bring much more comfortable than I, posture and paranoidly speaking. Her expressions pointed out to me that this was a brand new world for her. But I mean, c'mon, it was the Clientèle, and that was the only way I knew how to listen to them! Sadly I remember more of that story then I do of the bands performance.) ANYWAY, I called this one Central America, just because I thought it'd be a cool name for a song.

Chords are G7 and D7 during the verse
Amaj7, Cmaj7, Amaj7, E for the chorus
79.4 BPM (don't ask)

In the end I'd probably re-record the guitars, but I'd like to see where someone can take it first. Hell, feel free to scrap the whole chorus! I laid this one down fairly quickly tonight and did some Reamping and layered on some different sounds. Although I rushed through it tonight, I definitely dug my first experiment in reamping, I feel like it will definitely help me "dial in" better guitar sounds when recording myself.

  1. I really like the intro picking here. I feel like it could be extended to be a verse (maybe that's what it is?) Lots of room for great vocal melodies here. I'll try to come up with some lyrics as that'll probably be the only wasy I'll be able to contribute over the next few weeks.

  2. Yea, it's pretty much the verse too. But really structure it however works for you. If you want to change parts around/write new ones, go with it.
